Frisian Agricultural Museum
The Fries Landbouwmuseum in Leeuwarden tells the story of agriculture, food and the countryside in Fryslân and beyond. In 2026, the museum will celebrate its 100th anniversary and set a new course, with a strong focus on current food issues and social themes. This ambition is reflected in two major exhibitions in 2026 and 2027. The anniversary exhibition reflects on a century of agricultural history and the changing relationship between people, food and landscape. The food exhibition focuses on the future of food production and consumption, focusing on sustainability, technology and social impact.
Around these exhibitions, the museum develops a broad and in-depth public programme with lectures, film screenings, cooking workshops and other activities. This makes the Fries Landbouwmuseum a dynamic place for education, meeting and debate. Volunteers work in a small and committed team, are well supported and given plenty of room to learn, gain experience and make a visible contribution to projects with content and relevance.
Would you like to contribute to a museum that is at the heart of society and actively contributes to the conversation about food and the future? Then we cordially invite you to respond!
