Become a guide at the Blokhuispoort Foundation

Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic guide to join our team at Museum Blokhuispoort. At DeBlokhuisPoort, we share the story of the former penal prison and house of detention, where visitors can live the experience of prisoners in this historic place.
As a guide, you will lead groups of visitors around and provide a memorable experience by taking them through the history of this unique location and showing them what life was like in DeBlokhuisPoort.
Four fixed afternoons a week, our guests can book for a guided tour . On your preferred day, wait for them at the historic cells in Cell Block H and take them on an experience that will be talked about for a long time. We reserve an hour and a half for a guided tour but experience in storytelling tells us that it can soon run out. After all, you have fun doing it! Rest assured, no more than 15 people will accompany you at a time.
Are you interested? Then send us an e-mail with your motivation. If our interest is piqued, a no-obligation invitation to meet will follow.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
- A nice team is behind you to guide you through the 500-year past of this beautiful site. You will walk with our guides several times so you will experience the basic story to be told; their approach to storytelling; but can reinforce your story with information taken from our website; you may have researched yourself. Only when you are ready does it become your adventure!
- We are recognisable with our own clothing on loan.
- Each visitor you take on an adventure with us is registered with us and stands for one euro. If you take a maximum of 15 people you have already saved a nice penny per afternoon.
- Once a year, we organise a fun team outing
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
The perfect candidate will already have experience giving guided tours and be interested in the history of Leeuwarden and its prisons.
