Chairman of the Board

Description
Who are we looking for
We are looking for a chairman for our board who is socially engaged, with a heart for animals as well as people. As chairman, you will lead the board meetings and in this role you will be the figurehead of the Wissel to the outside world. You will represent our organisation, often together with the manager or other board members, to subsidisers and organisations and other stakeholders.
You have experience as a board member, preferably as chairman, are decisive and proactive and make contact easily. You have a good network in the Leeuwarden and Friesland region. A legal background and/or experience with fundraising would be nice, but is not necessary.
Even if you do not meet all the criteria or are not sure whether you have the right qualities or sufficient experience, we warmly invite you to respond. In our board, everyone has his/her own expertise and we would love to make use of the talent you bring.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Our organisation
Foundation Animal Shelter and Animal Ambulance the Wissel takes in hundreds of stray animals and pets relinquished by their owners every year for very different reasons.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and depend on municipal contributions, donors, sponsors, collections, funds and bequests for our finances.
At the Wissel, we work with a permanent professional team of eight staff supported by around 100 volunteers. We also employ a number of trainees every year.
The Wissel's board is tasked with shaping its objectives and organisation, monitoring its operations and representing the Wissel in consultations and meetings with or without the manager.
Animal Shelter and Animal Ambulance the Wissel is an ANBI foundation. Board members therefore receive no remuneration for their board duties. However, any expenses and travel costs can be reimbursed.
The board currently consists of four members. We meet once a month.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
Will you be our new chairman?
Would you like to put in a few free hours a month to further develop a great organisation and put it on the map? Then we would like to get in touch with you!
