Home Start (family buddy)

Humanitas Leeuwarden has many projects. One of them is Home-Start. Do you have experience as an educator and would you like to support families in the municipality of Leeuwarden as a volunteer? Then Home-Start Leeuwarden is looking for you!

What will you do with the families?
As a volunteer, you will support a family on a weekly basis by: listening, supporting with practical matters, playing with the children, helping them find their way around the place and strengthening the family's network. In short, giving a helping hand to parents where needed.

In a casual way, parenting questions are addressed. You mainly look at the things that are going well.

Your presence and input will help parents and children regain confidence, become more sociable and bring peace to the family!

- A 3-day training session preferably prior to pairing with a family
- A certificate on completion of the basic training course
- Theme meeting twice a year, six return meetings with other volunteers to share experiences and gain knowledge - A good travel allowance
- An outing once a year
- Support from a coordinator
- Various (online) training courses from Humanitas Academy

- Affinity with parents and children
- Experience raising (own) child
- A few hours a week of family time
- A VOG (free of charge)
