Volunteer animal ambulance

Description
Animal Ambulance de Wissel is committed to helping sick, injured, stray or deceased animals and their owners 24/7. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work on the ambulance and on the phone. The days are divided into three shifts: from 8.30am to 3pm; from 3pm to 8pm and from 8pm to 8.30am the next morning. As a switchboard operator, you will speak to reporters and pet owners by phone. They may have all kinds of questions and reports about all kinds of animals. Your job is to advise people, refer them on or send out the ambulance team. During office shifts (the day shift), you receive and accompany owners who have come to say goodbye to their deceased pet. The ambulance team consists of a driver and a co-driver. Together you go on a ride in the animal ambulance. On the way, the driver drives while the co-driver takes care of administration and phone calls. At the scene you handle the call together. Sometimes this is simply accepting an animal in a box at someone's home. There will also be tricky reports where you have to catch an animal, see an injured animal suffer or take someone's deceased pet off the road. Once you have the animal in the ambulance, you take it to the right destination. Initial care (24h) of wild animals is also provided by the ambulance team. Besides driving the ambulance and taking care of wild birds and mammals in the shelter, your duties include cleaning used areas and materials.

You can make a difference for owners of deceased pets when they have to say goodbye to their beloved pet. You will work in a friendly team with people of different ages and backgrounds. We regularly organise fun and educational meetings.
